About Furuboda Association
Sand, pines, the sea. Rolling countryside and sand dunes merging in the east with the waters of Hanöbukten bay. A riot of wild flowers in summer, resplendent with light and warmth in winter.
Can you imagine a better place for learning, recreation or conferencing? Those of us involved with the Furuboda Association don’t think so. That’s why we have built a facility here to meet almost everybody’s needs. Everyone is welcome here, disabled or not. The design of the buildings and their surroundings aims to ensure there are no obstacles to anyone in the realisation of their dreams. Our vision is of independent individuals taking their own responsibility in an open and accessible society. That’s why we aim to be a knowledge-based organisation, with a high level of competence in the field of disabilities, at the same time as we endeavour to create meeting places and opportunities for personal development. We want to be a model to take after when it comes to accessibility, human rights and democracy.Â
We work:
- with a view of the world that is Christian and humanistic as a foundation
- with general adult education and specific courses, using an interdisciplinary approach
- actively with research and development
- to spread knowledge, and influence public opinion
The Folk High School
The Folk High School provides a stimulating social environment where studies, recreation and accommodation can be combined. The entire facility is handicap-accessible, and for students with a functional disability the courses are specially tailored to provide a combination of learning, training, rehabilitation and active leisure time. Studies can be complemented with treatment from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and neurologist.Â
The Folk High School offers one-year courses, summer courses, recreational stays, special theme stays, and camps.Â
Conference Facilities
There are two sides to Furuboda Conference: for companies, public authorities and other organisations we offer professional facilities in a stimulating environment. Private visitors can also benefit from everything that Furuboda Conference has to offer. The Furuboda Conference Centre is ideal for all groups, both large and small. The entire complex is certified for accessibility.Â
Competence Centre
The Furuboda Competence Centre works with projects, courses and seminars; we also provide consultancy services, expertise and guidance in the fields of education, accessibility, personal relations and assistance, and alternative and supplementary communication.Â
We are one of the largest employers in the area. But our work is more than just Furuboda. We are on the governing board of the Österlen Folk High School, we organise courses in Malmö and run a non-residential Folk High School in Kristianstad, we are involved in national and international projects, and we constantly work to raise awareness and influence public opinion throughout Sweden. If you agree that the goals of our operation are important – to provide a way for people to achieve a more independent life – then we would welcome you among the around 4,000 members of the Furuboda Association working to make these goals a reality.Â
